2nd G20 EMPOWER summit to happen in Thiruvananthapuram announces Ministry of Women & Child Development

The Ministry of Women and Child Development said that the second G20 EMPOWER summit, held in Thiruvananthapuram from April 4-6, will carry forward the nation's women-led development agenda under India's year-long chairmanship. On February 11 and 12, the inaugural G20 EMPOWER meeting took place in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
"The G20 Alliance for the Empowerment and Progression of Women's Economic Representation (EMPOWER) is an association of G20 corporate executives and governments that seeks to hasten women's advancement in leadership and empowerment in the private sector. The G20 EMPOWER 2023 initiative, which will be led by India, intends to further India's women-driven development agenda, according to the statement.
Women's Empowerment: A Win-Win for Equality and the Economy is the focus of the G20 EMPOWER 2nd Summit. "India's G20 presidency is open, fair, aspirational, definite, and action-oriented, advancing dramatic improvements towards women's economic empowerment. More than ever before, nations are putting a strong emphasis on empowering women. India's G20 Presidency has arrived at both a crucial and advantageous time. The 2nd EMPOWER summit in Thiruvananthapuram will advance and reinforce initiatives done under G20 EMPOWER Alliance during previous presidencies to accelerate women's empowerment, according to the statement.
The event will be graced by Munjpara Mahendrabhai, Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, and Dr. Sangita Reddy, Chair of G20 EMPOWER 2023, will also be present.
Panel discussions will follow the opening plenary session of the conference, which will focus on "Achieving Economic Prosperity by Empowering Women: Reaching 25x25 Brisbane Objectives."
The report listed topics such as "promoting women's entrepreneurship through mentoring and capacity building, market access and financing, role of STEM education and innovation for scaling up businesses, enabling Leadership across all levels including at grassroots, strengthening women's participation in scientific and non-traditional sectors of work, etc." as some of the highlights of the dialogues.
Aside from that, it was announced that there would be side events on significant topics, including panel discussions on facilitating "School-to-Work" transitions and career development opportunities, investing in a supportive infrastructure for the care economy, and navigating corporate cultures for women's empowerment.
According to the press release, the National Institute of Fashion Technology created and curated an exhibition to highlight women's participation in the cultivation and production of tea, coffee, spices, and coir, as well as the work of women-led FPOs and indigenous toys, handloom and handicrafts made by women, as well as ayurvedic and wellness products.
According to the statement, the exhibition will incorporate digital components that will immerse viewers in the experience. Together with the seminars, attendees will also have the chance to engage with the craftspeople during a trip to Kerala Arts & Crafts Village (KACV).
"Cultural programmes will be held in the evenings, providing an interesting look into India's rich cultural legacy. In order to give attendees a taste of India's great cuisine and ancient customs, local cuisine and millet-based meals will also be offered throughout the events, according to the press release. On areas of agreement, the concluding plenary will concentrate on identifying significant results and defining activities across G20 EMPOWER goals.
