214 Women Among 1,389 Graduating Agniveers from INS Chilka at Indian Navy Ceremony

An important milestone was achieved with 1,389 Agniveers passed out from the portals of INS Chilka. The graduating batch included 214 women as well, making this a significant step towards improving gender balance in the Indian Navy.
Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff reviewed the passing out parade. Also present at the occasion was Vice Admiral V Srinivas, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command was the Conducting Officer of the parade. Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command.
Several family members of the passing-out Agniveers and defense veterans attended the graduation ceremony with gusto. Omkar Singh, MCPO I (GS), Gold medalist in Shooting during Common Wealth Games 2010 was also in attendance.
CNS addressed the parade and congratulated the trainees. He also encouraged the passing out trainees to abide by and uphold the Navy’s core values of Duty, Honour, and Courage in their pursuit of nation-building.
He advised the passing out batch to emphasize the upcoming phases of their training. He urged them to work hard to become technologically proficient sea warriors.
Medals and trophies were awarded by the Chief Guest to meritorious Agniveers during the POP. The Naval Staff Rolling Trophy and Gold Medal for Best Agniveer SSR and MR were won respectively by Vinay Maruti Kadam, AVR SSR, and Sanjana, AVR MR. The Gen Bipin Rawat Rolling Trophy for Best Woman Agniveer was won by Sakshi Mohan Mirje, AVR SSR. The best trainees' title was bagged by Ashish, NVK GD & Yuvraj, NVK DB in their respective courses.
