India's two women cadets, Jhanvi Singh, and Sahana M K, are competing in the 12th edition of the Admiral's Cup, marking their first participation in the prestigious international sailing regatta in Ezhimala at Ettikulam Beach.

Sahana M K, 25, hails from Chennai, and Jhanvi Singh, 24, is from Lucknow, who started their sailing journey six months ago. However, the pair has developed to the point where they can fiercely contend with the waves and other experienced sailors. On Wednesday, the women cadets navigated their laser radial sailing boats with 20 other competitors while waving against the wind.

The wind was not too strong today. After placing sixth in the day's second race, Sahana feels proud to say, "It was easier than yesterday."  "It was harsher yesterday," she chuckles. "I finished in ninth."

Six months ago, Sahana, a former badminton player and coach, started her sailing into the Naval Academy at Ezhimala in Kannur.

Sahana is new to sailing and water, but Jhanvi's father is a retired Naval officer who is familiar with the waters and found sailing at the academy.

Jhanvi is proud of representing her country in the Admiral's Cup, and is optimistic about winning the cup after nine years, citing strong competition from INA's team to Russia and Italy.
