The results of the Uttar Pradesh Panchayat Election show that women are valued in politics. Woman self-help groups (SHGs) are writing a new tale of progress in Uttar Pradesh, inspired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's women empowerment programmes and Mission Shakti. Today, a large number of girls and women in the state profit from these visionary schemes of the Yogi-led government.
In the state's recent Panchayat elections, 1534 women affiliated with SHGs were elected as Gram Pradhans. This is the first time in the state's history that so many women have stood for and won Panchayat elections. These women are becoming self-sufficient as a result of CM Yogi's efforts, and will now play an important role in village panchayats.
In the 2021 UP panchayat elections, a total of 3521 women from self-help groups contested for different positions, with 1534 winning.
Director of UP State Livelihood Mission, Sujit Kumar said here on Sunday that, “CM Yogi has linked the women of self-help groups with the operation of government ration shop, the responsibility of electricity bill connection and stitching of school dress, among many other programs. Many types of training have also been given to women by the department”.
Women's confidence has steadily increased as a result of the initiatives that have been implemented for them in the last three to four years.
