Urvi Barot: Leading With Passion For Precision
Urvi Barot
Director, T3AM
Rapid advances in technology such as 3D printing, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics are expected to drive innovation in industrial machinery manufacturing, thus resulting in higher productivity, lower operating costs, and higher margins. Bioreactors and fermenters are preferred to cater to the high demand for larger cell quantities, improve cultivation efficiency, and increase reproducibility and product quality. Market revenue growth is expected to be driven by factors such as rising demand for hybrid bioreactors from the pharmaceuticals industry, rapid adoption of single-use reactors in the biopharmaceutical industry, and increasing demand for advanced bioreactors and fermenters for large-scale manufacturing and production in industries such as food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and others. Hybrid bioreactors are being increasingly deployed in various industrial processes. Demand for scalable systems, which are required to streamline process transfer to manufacturing from research and development, has also been rising to increase productivity in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
Manufacturing has traditionally been male-dominated—fewer than onethird of manufacturing employees are women. Tell us about your responsibilities as the Director of T3AM. What are your primary focus areas in the said role?
My responsibility as Finance head is to maintain accounting, fund management, and maintaining project tracking till the project is handed over to the client. As HR head, I mainly look after recruitment and scrutinizing the applications, and my team takes care of the other HR work. I have expertise in maintaining a balance between business, customer, vendor, staff everyone associated with me.
Throw some light on the most critical business challenges you face in your current role. What steps do you take to overcome the roadblocks that you encounter?
As I am handling Finance in my company, I recognize its importance and how everything revolves around Finance. If one doesn't follow good financial management in the organization, then all departments will suffer losses. Our small to big machine takes at least 2-3 months to manufacture, so working capital management is an essential norm. There are many in-between months where there are no incoming funds, but as a part of manufacturing, my production work always continues, and I efficiently manage our liability of paying 100+ staff and laborers. Also, my team is capable enough to negotiate with vendors for smooth production. With a team of 200 + process engineers, technicians, researchers, and experts holding a reputation and core expertise in various fields, including Design, manufacture, and automation, we strive to provide quality products to clients.
What are some of the most significant milestones you have achieved throughout your professional journey? What has been your success mantra?
Starting a business with small funds, courage, and positive vibes is a significant milestone in my journey. Today we are a renowned manufacturer competing with prominent manufacturers in the same field and getting big projects. We have started with limited people and nominal turnover and now have reached crores of turnover with a global presence in the past ten years. I have never stopped working and managing the business and my family commitments. My husband has supported me in every aspect of life and all my decisions. My success mantra is my confidence and courage to do things. I have a positive outlook on life and have learned many things in life, seen many ups and downs but have never lost confidence.
