Supreet Kaur: Reinventing Online Education In India With The Modern Virtual Schooling Model

Supreet Kaur
Principal & Director

For a long time, India's education system has remained mostly unchanged, and classroom instruction is still widely regarded as the best way to acquire knowledge. Even if physical schools were forced to close for months due to the outbreak of the pandemic, students were able to continue their studies online instead of in the classroom. Students and parents are now fully aware of the advantages of online education, and the educational framework in India is undergoing a fundamental upheaval. Supreet Kaur founded Cyboard School, a digital schooling platform, based on her belief that online education is the future of Indian education. Looking at this expansion of online schooling as the future of Indian education, Supreet Kaur established Cyboard School, a digital schooling platform.

It is because of the immaculate planning of the team effort at Cyboard School under the guidance of Supreet Kaur that the school has been able to achieve such heights of accomplishment. In her role as the Principal & Director of the Cyboard school, Supreet is a strong advocate of individual potential and a passionate and devoted leader who is transforming the true meaning of online education. In an exclusive interaction with Women Entrepreneur magazine, Supreet spoke about the establishment of Cyboard School, which is a novel concept of online schooling.

What motivated you to establish Cyboard School? Tell us about the underlying idea behind creating the platform & some of its unique features.

We were inspired to start Cyboard School after witnessing the challenges faced by teachers during the pandemic, who were unexpectedly forced to teach classes online. If I were to pin down a single driving force for the establishment of the Cyboard School, it would have to be the desire to ensure that education would continue in its current form without interruption. As a result, it may or may not be COVID in the future. The children and the instructor should not suffer because of this, and hence it was our first and most important motive to do so. In today's world, a child who has an electronic device with an internet connection can access any form of schooling they desire. In light of this, we intended to break down the barriers that good education comes at a high cost. Unfortunately, today, the cost of sending my child to an influential school is many times greater than what it was when I was a student. For us, providing quality education at a reasonable price was all in mind, henceforth we created Cyboard School.

Give us a brief overview of Cyboard School.

Unlike other schools, Cyboard is a completely online institution. And when I say "one of its kind," I mean that this is a school that can do anything a physical school can do, with the sole distinction being that it is structured differently. Cyboard is a regular school operated online, it is not any extra class facility. Here, students can't come back and say, "I'd like to study this subject for an hour or two," as if you were at a tutoring facility, and Cyboard School begins at 9AM and ends at 2:30PM every day. Our children can access all of their academic subjects, extracurricular activities, and extracurricular languages through a single learning management system.

During the pandemic, Cyboard was set up, and it has since become a revolutionary new concept in our country. For us, COVID isn't a one-time event for online education to come to the forefront. We want to make online education a permanent feature of the country's  education system. It doesn't matter where you are in the country, you should have access to high-quality education at a reasonable cost, that's what Cyboard school provides.

“During the pandemic, cyboard was set up, & it has since become a revolutionary new concept in our country”

Tell us about the major business challenges that you face in your current role and how you counter them.

A key problem we confront in our current position is the fact that it is a new concept of learning and even though we have accepted this as a coexisting system, there is still a long way to go for organizations, schools, general public to realize that quality education can become affordable if we have more online opportunities for our children. Also, as we are geographically scattered, we receive students with their unique set of needs, However, I believe that each entrepreneur that introduces a new product or service has to evolve the products to the needs of the market which in our case is done by enrichment classes for students to ensure everyone gets supported. As a new concept to market, we will encounter various difficulties. For example, buying something that has been around for a while and bringing it home is straightforward, but we think twice before doing the same with something that is brand new to us and the market as a whole. The same applies to us, as the concept of the Cyboard School is quite new to the Indian educational system. Thus, convincing parents that Cyboard School is the same as any other school, except for the classroom format, is equivalent to instilling a revolutionary mentality.

When it comes to women and girls who aim to be business leaders & entrepreneurs in the future, what advice would you give them?

Make your own decisions and don't rely on the approval of those around you to get things done. Keep your eye on the big picture and know where you want to be in the long run. Regardless of how big or little your career objective may be, you should always have a strategy in place for how you intend to achieve it. Remember that no matter how hard you try, someone will be dissatisfied and you will be left behind, and you shouldn't let that stop you or make it your attitude. Keep moving forward in your business and don't be afraid to take risks. Also, it's natural for women to have 100 things going on at once, so if you need help, get up and ask for it. The more proficient you are with exceptional management abilities, the more effective you will be as a business leader and entrepreneur.
