Today, content creation has become a day-to-day activity but only those with good intent and strong sense of content can touch the hearts of audiences and can survive in the entertainment industry. Sagarika Kochrekar co-founded Frizzon Productions with the vision of transforming client briefs into the world-class content. A Mumbai-based creative content studio & production house, Frizzon is a one-stop-shop for creative development, production & post-production. They curate branded content, originals, and much more for brands to the likes of Red Bull, Netflix, Google, Twitter, and Vice to name a few. In 2018, she became the Executive Producer at Frizzon Productions and later rose to the role of co-founder spearheading the company’s creative direction. What led you to co-found Frizzon Productions? Tell us about the underlying idea behind the venture and some of its key areas of specialization.
I started off with a lean team at Frizzon as Executive Producer and over the years, we have spread our wings wide and far to build Frizzon as a brand with Achal Gupt (Founder of Frizzon Productions). I was offered the position of co-founder. It became our collective dream to watch the brand leap miles. Our team at Frizzon handles complete end-to-end strategy and production and we go above and beyond to make content that puts the audience at the heart of the action. Our 360 approach gives us the opportunity to be able to offer a one-stop-shop for creative development, production & post-production from our studios in Mumbai, Delhi, and Singapore.
Throw some light on the different responsibilities you shoulder as the COO of Frizzon Productions.
I think as a co-founder it is extremely important to be involved in all facets of the company. We’re an extremely close-knit company where we strongly believe that the growth of the employees is what aids the growth of the organization. We prioritize supporting our team to grow professionally in their desired fields. As a team, we believe in delivering the best service to our clients along with a ‘never say never’ attitude. We’re a group of innovators more than anything else. We’ll find a way to fulfill our clients’ wishlist and that’s what makes brands trust us.
Tell us about the various challenges you encounter as a woman leader in the Indian media & entertainment space. How do you overcome the roadblocks that you face?
In the 21st century, women have seamlessly managed to earn their way into the world and professional life, and I think gender isn’t a bar anymore to determine aptitude or capability. What stands for one’s capability is their drive and attitude towards their work culture. Being a woman in a leadership role has never been a roadblock. The industry has been very welcoming.
"Embrace Change: Be Open To New Experiences, Ideas, & Perspectives"
Tell us about some of the key milestones you have achieved throughout your professional journey. What has been your success mantra?
I might have a long way ahead before I can discuss a success mantra or a milestone. There is so much more to achieve as a leader, as a professional, or as an individual even. I think trust is the most critical achievement in one’s life. At Frizzon, the trust and support the founders and the core team have shown in me has been a massive achievement.
Drawing from your personal experience, what advice would you give to young women and girls who also aspire to become business leaders and entrepreneurs in the future?
It is important to trust your gut and instincts. You’re out there to experience life and no one can chalk out your path better than you. Mistakes are inevitable and can bog you down. However, the takeaways from these are crucial, and that’s what helps you grow. Therefore, it is important to trust yourself to keep going and try your luck despite failures. What makes this easier is to have an extremely strong support system through the core team and mentors.
