Reshma Jani & Shwetambari Bhatt : Taking Artistic Expressions To Global Glory
Reshma Jani, Shwetambari Batt
Co-Founders , Trinity
The analysis of aesthetic qualities reigned supreme in art history. And today, the art world has evolved, breaking free from the shackles of exclusion, both financial and cultural. It is embracing the diverse interests of consumers and captivating works of artists and artisans. While also transcending mere decoration to becoming a soulful reflection of our deepest desires and passions. The allure of the elite end of the art market is irresistible, and art galleries play a pivotal role in this captivating landscape. They serve as gatekeepers to the world of art, where almost 90 percent of artworks find their deserving buyers.
Among these exceptional galleries stands Trinity Art Impact, an online art and creative consultancy service company based in Mumbai, India. Since 2008, Reshma Jani and Shwetambari Bhatt, the visionary cofounders of Trinity Art Impact, have been at the forefront of meeting the evolving needs of a growing art market. Women Entrepreneur India engages in an exclusive conversation with them.
What was the purpose behind the venture?
Reshma: Trinity Art Impact was founded with the vision of making art accessible to everyone, breaking free from the confines of traditional galleries. We wanted to eliminate the elitism and complexity often associated with art appreciation and create an immersive experience for everyone. Our novel gallery setup brings art to neighborhood venues, such as hotels, where people can feel like they're surrounded by art in the comfort of their own living rooms. We prioritize showcasing the right artists with professional displays and lighting, ensuring that both the artists and the consumers are respected.
Our journey began with shows in contemporary settings instead of conventional galleries. Despite initial skepticism from some established artists, the response was extremely encouraging. We were fortunate to have some stalwarts who believed in us. These successful collaborations paved the way for more shows, where we combined art with other experiences like music and fashion, catering to people's desires. Through this process, we were able to offer both a delightful experience and a platform for showcasing serious art.
Take us through the prior industry experiences. How did you both come together eventually as collaborators?
Reshma: My journey into the art world began with a degree in fashion design, where my passion for aesthetics and all things beautiful blossomed. Art found its way into my life organically, starting with small home shows that garnered increasing interest from people. As the shows grew larger, I realized the immense potential and impact of art. It was at this point that I met Shweta, and our collaboration took off. Shweta, with her background in hotel management, brought a fresh perspective to the table. We quickly discovered that our thoughts and visions aligned perfectly.
We both had individual experiences in the art world and also studied art at Christie’s London. It was a mutual friend who saw the potential in our partnership. Introduced to each other, we realized that we share a passion for art and a desire to present it in unconventional ways. We wanted to break away from the traditional gallery setting and create immersive experiences for people to truly connect with art.
Tell us about the top milestones Trinity Art Impact has achieved since its inception.
Shweta: Firstly, we designed and created an aweinspiring anamorphic sculpture displayed at the BKC for MMRDA. This public sculpture has become a prominent landmark and a testament to our artistic vision. We have also pioneered the concept of art as an experience. By merging art with other immersive experiences such as fashion and music, we attracted a diverse audience who discovered and appreciated art in a dynamic and engaging way. Our events became vibrant and multisensory celebrations of artistic expression.
We have actively pursued international art collaborations, expanding our portfolio beyond Indian artists. Our focus on promoting international artists and fostering partnerships with galleries abroad has broadened the scope and diversity of the art we offer to our clients. This inclusive approach has been wellreceived, with both collectors and art enthusiasts embracing the opportunity to engage with global artistic perspectives. Recently, we created NFTs that allowed us to explore new avenues and connect with tech-savvy audiences.
What has been your Mantra for the venture’s success? What roadmap have you set for Trinity Art Impact’s next phase of growth?
Shweta: Loving what you do is a powerful driving force. It instills passion, belief, and a constant desire to move forward and explore new possibilities. This mindset has been at the core of our success and has allowed us to consistently grow and evolve.
"We Strive To Bring Art To People From All Walks Of Life, Inviting Everyone To Discover The Beauty & Meaning Of Art In A More Inclusive & Relatable Way"
Looking ahead to the next phase of Trinity Art Impact's growth, our roadmap involves collaborating with international artists at a deeper level. We aspire to facilitate exchange programs, where we take Indian artists around the world and bring international artists to India. This global perspective will enrich our artistic offerings and foster cross-cultural connections. Additionally, we are committed to creating interactive shows and exhibitions that transcend traditional boundaries. We aim to engage multiple senses and create immersive experiences where art intertwines with fashion, music, and other forms of expression. By inviting people to fully experience and connect with art on a sensory level, we hope to make it more accessible and captivating for all.
