In an exclusive interview with Women Entrepreneur magazine, Rachna, Founder & Director at Dezign Inspire highlights about some important traits of the company and her leadership capabilities.

Give Us A Brief Overview Of Dezign Inspire.  Tell Us More Your Expertise As A Business Leader And An Interior Designer.

After working in the corporate world for more than a decade, Dezign Inspire was a source of inspiration for me. I had the opportunity to join Multinational property consulting firm as a consultant where I would visit a variety of residential properties such as beach villas, flats, and bungalows on a regular basis. I was deeply involved in selecting the perfect house for the right customer based on their lifestyle. Over time, I changed occupations and took on numerous positions, but there was no job satisfaction. That's when I truly considered pursuing a career in interior design. That's how Dezign Inspire came to be and I registered my corporation. I was fortunate enough to receive my initial project within the first month, I registered my company in January and received my first project in February. It's been enlightening ever since, and there's no turning back now.

Take Us Through Your Early Educational Journey And Prior Industry Experience That You Bring To The Table. What Motivated You To Foray Into The Field Of Interior Designing?

I earned a bachelor's degree in Corporate Secretaryship before pursuing a postgraduate diploma in human resources. In addition, my business background includes some HR knowledge. In terms of my job and the choices I had, I was going through a lot of ups and downs. Instead of just getting back into the rat race, I decided to do something I'm passionate about. Following my postgraduate studies, I pursued a Master’s degreein Psychology. Eventually, I answered a phone call and found myself in the field of interior design.

What Are The Various Roles & Responsibilities That You Currently Shoulder At Dezign Inspire? What Are Some Of The Most Challenging Aspects Of Your Role As The Director? How Do You Overcome Them?

Despite being in a completely new area, my previous knowledge has benefited me in several aspects of the business. From designing to coordinating to meeting clients, negotiating, talking to vendors, drawing inspiration from various sources, putting the right ideas in place, sourcing the right material, meeting clients and their families to understand their needs, and finally executing it as per the client's needs.

I oversee a wide range of people, including carpenters, painters, false ceiling installers, and flooring installers, among other things. Aside from home design, I also work in the retail sector. Currently, I am catering in Hyderabad but I'm open to take up projects in other cities as well. Dezign Inspire has also executed a number of creative projects in Chennai and Pune. As a Founder and Director of a company, I have always made sure that every operation runs smoothly and on schedule.

Tell Us About The Varied Expertise That You Possess As An Interior Designer. How Has Your Prior Industry Experience Helped You In Your Current Role As The Director At Dezign Inspire?

I've always enjoyed decorating my home and keeping it neat and tidy. As a result, I've channeled my enthusiasm into my work. I've always searched for methods to improve a place, whether it's through different combinations and permutations of objects. However, it wasn't until I received a formal degree in it that I realized the subtleties and nitty-gritty of what goes into creating, and in my previous experience, I had to visit a lot of places and would examine every aspect as to what goes into creating a given area more lively and client-centric, whether it was residential, shop, or commercial office. The goal has always been to make a client's dream project a reality.

How Do You Keep Yourself Well Aligned With The Periodic Evolutions Occurring Within Your Respective Field Of Work?

I constantly endeavor to stay on top of changing market dynamics and requirements. My design idea is to create something timeless, thus it does not need to be current. Trends will shift, and what is popular now may not be so tomorrow. However, if you create something functional, ageless, it may be a combination of many distinct ethereal designs, indicating that one does not have to strictly adhere to one style of design. Even after 10-15 years, you should never feel that what you designed is becoming obsolete, whether in terms of colors, textures, patterns, or materials, among other things.

As A Successful Businesswoman What Would Be Your Advice Be To Young Women And Girls Who Aspire To Become Business Leaders And Entrepreneurs In The Future?

Nowadays, there are many possibilities and avenues for young passionate individuals to try and figure out where their interests lie and what would work for them. There were fewer alternatives and road less traveled did not have easier paths, however, today's youth have a plethora of opportunities to investigate and figure out. With an ever-changing world and technological breakthroughs, one might extend their viewpoint in a certain subject in a variety of ways. It is important to recognize that it may take time and that it is alright to make mistakes, but never shy away from exploring till you know where your passion lies. Doing your homework on what you're getting into and being consistent will produce fruit.
