Tell Us About The Underlying Idea Behind The Venture And Some Of Its Most Unique Features.
Architecture Is A Timeless Creation And Has The Power To Change The Society. With The Dream To Change The Skyline Of Mumbai And Then India, We Four Co - Founders Set Up Pentaspace Design Studio. A team of creative, innovative, young people came together to shape our dreams to reality.
Contextual designing in relation to site and neighborhood study is the mantra we follow. Unique and innovative designing and quick deliverables have helped us carve a niche for ourselves. We strive to bring out something new in every project that comes to our studio. Keeping an eye on the detail and astectic, large layout designs are conceptualized around a concept relevant to the site location.
What are the different responsibilities you shoulder as the Director? What are your primary focus areas?
As a student, I was always inclined to construct and manage development of buildings. After finishing my architecture, I decided to work with non-other than Ar. Hafeez Contractor to gain maximum knowledge. After working on different projects as an architect there, I moved to study Advance Construction Management. Post my PG in ACM, in my early years, I worked with a reputed developer as a business development manager. This experience gave me a lot of confidence in presenting the firm I worked for. I used the experience gained here at the start to pitch what Pentaspace could deliver to various developers and took charge of Business Development. As we were four co-founders, and I had a natural flair for management and presentation, business development and management became my core responsibility at the time of Establishing the studio. Over the years, as Pentaspace created a market for itself and with the need to constantly innovate, we set up a research team under me to study new concepts in housing and architecture industry. I am currently heading institutional projects which are being done outside Mumbai.
“Talent is half-cooked without the right work ethic & discipline”
What are the challenges you face in your current profile and how do you overcome them?
To balance the time to review and develop the current project and to simultaneously look for newer markets is a challenge I am facing currently. Both are equally important and have to be looked into with equal zeal and energy. Therefore, planning the schedule and prioritizing things is always a challenge one faces.
What are some of the most significant milestones that you have achieved throughout your professional journey?
Till date, we have designed and executed over 10 million sq.ft. of real estate and if I put our current ongoing projects in relation to apartments, we at present are constructing approx. 3 numbers of 3bhk apartments daily.
Recently, Forbes India has recognized us as ‘The Disruptors’ in ‘The Bold Club: The design Next Gen: Top30 under 45.
In the year 2019 IEDRA recognized us as the fastest-growing architectural practice in Indo-Global award for Architectural and Designing.
I am happy about these milestones and proud to say what started in Mumbai with a small team of four people is now a team of 30 and we are planning to spread our wings beyond Mumbai and MMR region to pan India and then international presence.
What is your take on women’s underrepresentation in the field of engineering? What would be your advice to young women who also aspire to become entrepreneurs in the future?
The perception is changing now in both Architecture and Engineering industries. Soon you can see more and more women in the forefront now.
In business nothing comes tomorrow we must dream and plan, and the most crucial thing is patience and discipline. We must be focused, and we need to think out of the box as well as we must be persistent in what we do. We cannot give up easily and the thing we feel in the younger generation is that they want very quick results but unfortunately in business that doesn’t happen, especially in Engineering and Architecture. So, my advice to all the women and men out there is if you want to grow big then you must be focused, be a dreamer, disciplined, and persistent person.
