Pallavi Krishna Paspuleti: Driving Growth, Building Homes

Pallavi Krishna Paspuleti
Chief Executive Director, Tripura Constructions

Women have found their place in every industry, some have even conquered. Construction industry, peculiar as this edition may seem, has been a recent destination for several women architects, engineers, and other relevant field specialists. Established in 2007, Hyderabad based Tripura Constructions has handed over 14 projects successfully in a span of 14-15 years. Top quality residential homes, extremely competitive pricing, and futuristic locations are the three key principles on which Tripura Constructions have undertaken and delivered each project. The firm is currently spearheaded by the Chief Executive Director, Pallavi Krishna Paspuleti, and she gives us a walk-through of how she has catapulted the company to growth.

Tell us about your Tripura Constructions’ initial years in the industry.

Tripura Constructions has been at the forefront of handing over residential apartments and villas at a significantly faster time period with considerably effective pricing. The foundation stone to the firm was actually laid by my father-in-law, Sudhakar Paspuleti. He is the visionary behind the stupendous rise of Tripura Constructions. Unlike others, he worked his way up the ladder, learning the nuances and skills of each work in the real estate industry. Along the way, he realized that a good building had two innate qualities – architectural excellence and honest commitment to the customer. It is this defining idea that

permeates through everything at Tripura Constructions right from design to delivery, in our employees and the management. In the last two years span, we've come up with the plotting projects and we are in the affordable segment with buyers making purchases anywhere between 75 Lakhs to 2 Crores.

What transformations did you bring forth upon taking charge of the organization as the Chief Executive Director?

Before I joined, our organization was adhering to purely traditional manual methods. I got it automated. Though there is still vast scope, but I brought major automation drives into the company’s processes. Construction industry has been infamous for being unorganized for the most part of it. I realized the same, and introduced automation to bring the firm at par with competition. Secondly, marketing was another key concern that looked into when I joined. Basically, I am looking over the key management of the firm including projects handovers, payments, and customer satisfaction etc. A good chunk of credit for me being  able to handle multiple roles can be given to my MBA in Finance followed by many other executive programs including one in family business.

What’s your thought on women entering the construction industry that is mostly male dominated?

Firstly, I do not understand why it’s called so. Honestly, I have been out and I see that the shell is broken. Now, particularly in the construction industry, women are doing just as much as their male counterparts are. We are visiting the sites, monitoring the work, talking to the landlords; the once popular belief is not there anymore, and people don’t frown upon or mind talking to women. If the profile of the job is similar, gender does not matter anymore.

What skills do you bring to the table as a business leader in this industry?

Problem solving and quick decision making! These are the two essential skills that I bring forth. This industry itself is so much under fluctuations with the cost of materials, the kind of people shuffling and the lack of professionalism, that quick decision making is one of the key factors to keep the business on check. Secondly, with government offices and other suppliers in the value chain, problem solving can come handy in the long run. However, considering today’s influence of technology, I’d say my acumen for keeping myself updated with the latest trends in the market related to technology is an important factor. Integrity and accountability are also two of the important things I take care within my organization.

Tell us about a unique approach about your way of leading the construction business.

I bring in the sustainability factor. Construction business, as obvious, will cause deforestation or to some extent other environmental damage. Although, construction businesses today are taking significant measures to ensure they don’t harm to a detrimental extent, a lot still could be done to profit without causing any harm to the environment. I have ensured at our firm that every tree uprooted is then planted in a different place thereby ensuring that the tree is not lost.Green innovation is one of my ideas. We have a project designed around the green concept wherein we have planted trees in all slabs in the building.

What’s your advice to young girls & women in general, who hesitate to venture into an industry?

I just want to tell the girls, that there is no field that is exclusively for men. If you are interested, just dive into it and, explore & experience, don't let anything hold you back from doing what you want to do. Be brave and believe in the process, and just be dedicated & committed to your work. Commitment is the key and be very consistent in whatever you do.
