Apart from this, many are unaware of different body types and how to dress accordingly so that they complement their body type. Educating people on these topics and helping them improve their style through innovative and result-oriented methods is Nims Consultancy. Nirmala is the brains behind Nims Consultancy and combining both her passion for dressing up and expertise as a certified image consultant, she has been able to help many realize their true potential with a change in how they carry themselves and dress up for every occasion.

When asked about who inspired her to venture into entrepreneurship, Nirmala says “Suman Agarwal, who runs ICBI is one individual who inspired me to start a business of my own. And not just for me, but for many others, her achievementsis a true inspiration”. In an exclusive interview with WOMEN ENTREPRENEUR, Nirmala talks more about her journey as an entrepreneur and the unique operations of Nims Consultancy.

Can You Give Us A Brief Overview On Nims Consultancy?

I started the firm right after I completed my image consultancy certification course from ICBI. Even prior to that, I was keen on dressing up and I had a keen knowledge on drawing. Over time, I realized that, even though I am helping my family as well as extended family with their clothes and accessories, if I want to reach out to more people, I need to get proper training in the subject and start a firm of my own. So, now, I offer one on one consultations and after multiple interactions with the client, we decide on our final approach regarding their styling and wardrobe.

Even during the pandemic, I still continued our operations through online consultations. I wanted to help my clients understand the power of style and clothing. At the same time, I help people understand on how to dress to an occasion so that you can create the best impression in others. So, after understanding the requirement of my clients, I help them dress up properly according to the occasion. Apart from that, I also help people have the right body image.

Can You Talk More About Your Formative Years Prior To Starting Nims Consultancy?

I am a science graduate and after my marriage, I have travelled and lived all over the country with my husband. This has given me the opportunity to learn and understand more about the different cultures, traditions and clothing styles of people all across India. And this experience has helped me to develop an inclination towards art and keep a journal of all my travel experiences in my blogs.

When I turned 50, I wanted to gift myself and that gift was to challenge myself to pursue the image consultancy course and start a business venture of my own.

Can You Talk More About Your Clients And How Do You Help Your Clients To Get The Desired Results?

We are specialized in helping people who are in their middle age and when they are travelling abroad, they might not be able to seamlessly adapt with the changes in climate, scenery and culture. So, we help them to cope up with this change and it is not just clothes that we assist them with. We give them a detailed breakthrough on the changes in culture, and how to carry themselves properly while still keeping their individual identity when they are travelling abroad.

We even have created a specialized module for that. Apart from when I am going for one-on-one consultations and wardrobe evaluations, this line of business helps me to work remotely from anywhere. I might only work with three to four clients during a month and this helps me to offer the best possible services to this small group. Being a highly clientcentric business, I make sure that the client is satisfied with our services so that we can build a meaningful relationship with them. Also, the changes that I offer to my clients is gradual so that they can adapt to the changes better and carry the clothes they are wearing in a much more effective way.

What Motivates You To Strive For Sustained Success In The Industry?

First of all, I was already passionate about this vertical and this coupled with my drive to start a business of my own is what pushed me to set-up this business. Also, at the same time, I had free time and I wanted to make the best use of it and through my services I wanted to help others present themselves in a much better way. Recently a 16-year-old and her mother contacted me and it is great to see that such a young girl not only understands the importance of having the service of an Image consultantbut she is also able to convince her parents to come and meet me. So, moments like this helps me to push forward.

What Would Be Your Advice To Budding Entrepreneurs?

Don’t be afraid to explore your passion and be consistent with the work you put in. After realizing your passion, get trained on how to improve that skill and acquire knowledge on that subject. More importantly, it is crucial that you understand that money is not everything and your personal satisfaction should be given top priority.
