Meenakshi Kapoor: Revolutionizing the hr landscape with two decades of industry experience
Meenakshi Kapoor
Founder & Director, Bizdeed HR Solutions
Every business needs significant attention and thought process to develop its HR strategies, but for most organizations, HR is not their core strength. The best way is to engage with those who have years of experience working with different clients across industries and geographies. As more organizations have chosen to lighten their staffing burdens by contracting for HR services, outsourcing opportunities have grown for independent HR consultancies. Meenakshi Kapoor founded Bizdeed HR Solutions as a comprehensive HR product that caters to the whole lifecycle of an employee. It is an HR company established with an objective to provide end-to-end HR solutions to diverse businesses to help them focus on their core businesses and leave every HR-related concern to the capable hands of its team of professionals. Bizdeed’s services ranging from Talent Acquisition to Payroll & Statutory Compliance Management, HR Outsourcing, IT Outsourcing, Soft and Functional Trainings, HR Consultation on various Allied services e.g. Manpower Planning, HR Policies formation, and any customized solutions as per the Client’s requirements.
Meenakshi Kapoor is an accomplished HR professional with 26+ years of work experience and a proven ability to function as a strategic HR Business Partner. She engages in a one-on-one interaction with the Women Entrepreneur magazine, here are the highlights.
What are some important features of your expertise as an HR leader that you want us to highlight through the article? What motivated you to establish Bizdeed HR Solutions?
I always loved everything about my profession and was truly passionate in exploring and involving myself in every facet of HR domain from manpower planning, hiring, managing employees performance, communication, grievance, compliances, salary & compensation, retention strategies, R&R, Succession planning and so on. Secondly, I strongly believed in the fact that to become a successful HR Leader, we must be able to ‘understand and speak business’ and therefore, to become the member of the inner circle of the business, followed the strategy to be the ‘Strategic HR Business Partner’with deep understanding of the organization's goals and aligning of all my HR strategies towards achieving those Business Goals.
Finally, as we all know that HR lends itself to a number of unforeseen and complex HR operational issues like payroll & statutory compliances, disciplinary & workplace conduct, HR audits, legal issues and so on. I could represent the organization with the substantial knowledge and courage and was either one of their ‘solution provider’ or the ‘Problem Solver’ to deal with the running concerns and try identifying potential risks to mitigate the adverse effects on the organization.
Since I got the opportunity to work closely with the Company’s Top Management and Business Heads, I realized the fact that running a business is not a joke. They face countless business challenges to run their businesses smoothly and profitably. And that’s why they just want peace and time to focus on their business operations and not on HR. This was the force which boosted me to establish my own HR venture and leverage my strengths of extensive work experience and subject knowledge to provide the exclusive and highly cost effective HR services to diverse businesses and give them peace of mind and sufficient time they deserve to enable them to focus on their core business operations and not on HR operations.
What are some of the most pressing challenges you encounter as a strategic HR professional? How do you successfully mitigate these challenges?
In my view, finding the ‘Right Talent’ and to verify if they are not ‘moonlighting’, preparing salary structures as per applicable Acts, dealing with Statutory Compliances and audits, HR documentation, retaining the key resource and developing behavioral and functional skills to enhance overall employee productivity and business efficiency, are the most pressing challenges these days.
To mitigate these challenges, I suggest duly described job expectations, efficient screening and negotiations, increasing hybrid working model, as far as possible, availability of compliance experts for handling payroll & compliance matters, on-roll and off-roll manpower management by experts, Training programs on regular basis to map the performance, might be some of the actions which can help in dealing with the above challenges.
What are some of the most significant milestones you have achieved throughout your professional journey? What has been the driving force behind your success as a professional?
The greatest milestone is that I always got due respect, appreciation, trust and confidence on me and my professional decisions from the Business Heads/senior management Teams wherever I have worked in my entire professional journey. I always felt that HR is a very important part of any company. It supports internal processes to create/ sustain organizational culture and maintain harmony. Whereas, unfortunately it was observed that HR team the last one to be considered in any important ‘business decision meetings’. That was painful.
This force me to stay ahead and upgraded with relevant technology and knowledge in the domain to run the function more effectively and efficiently to get the due place for HR from Business Heads. I strongly feel that until and unless HR leaders are technology driven and speak the minds of the ‘Businesses’ they would still be out of those important moments and will remain the ‘operational people’.
“Challenges are thrown at us every day, but the way to overcome them is to improve ourselves rather than try to correct or change others”
How do you foresee the Indian HR industry evolving going forward? What trends do you see developing in the industry in the near future?
Agility is a key characteristic for anyone working in the corporate world today, as it is a dynamic one, something that was relevant yesterday may not be relevant today. Also, the understanding of the definition of an agile position holder has changed over the last few years. It is the need of the hour that people should be well aware of certain things like technology and skills in terms of regular up gradation of their knowledge as it would become obsolete soon. Therefore one should keep themselves updated and read on the changes happening in the overall industry, not just in their own fields.
