Introduce Us To Digital Chakra. What Approach Do You Undertake As A Digital Marketing Entrepreneur To Help Clients Achieve Their Desired Business Goals?
Digital Chakra is a Digital Marketing Agency, focused on helping ambitious Ecommerce Businesses with Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Conversion Optimisation (CRO)Solutions. We serve domestic as well as international clients & have helped generate millions of dollars in revenue for UK Based Retail Businesses.
Working in the Digital Marketing industry, I've found that lack of a process-oriented approach is the main cause of poor strategy, shoddy execution, unhappy clients, frustrated employees, and lost sales.
So, as the business owner of an SEO Services Company, my focus from the very start has been on setting up robust and systematic Business processes. This approach has three-pronged benefits: First, it helps achieve reliable, repeatable and efficient service for clients. Second, it enables training and onboarding new staff without leaving them confused. Third, it builds Brand equity, making the Business more marketable and saleable as a whole.
Take Us Through Your Early Educational Journey And Prior Industry Experience. What Motivated You To Create A Digital Marketing Firm?
I come from an Army background. So, growing up, my family moved to a new city every 2-3 years and I ended up studying in several different schools. Despite constant movement, I was a keen student and was always at the top of my class. My parents instilled the values of hard-work, self-discipline, and honesty in me and my siblings.
After school I qualified for and joined the Army Institute of Technology, Pune for a Bachelors of Engineering in Computer Science. Upon graduation in 2006, I gained valuable industry experience working for multiple IT companies. In 2009, I joined a Marketing Startup as one of the founding team members, focused on serving the Digital Marketing needs of US SAAS Businesses.
In 2011, I applied and was chosen for the Teach for India (TFI) Fellowship, a 2-year, full-time commitment to work as a teacher, with under-served communities. For the next two years, I worked full-time teaching Math, Science and English to 68-year-olds in a low-income private school in Dadar West, Mumbai. It offered me deep insights into the effort, perseverance and commitment it takes to solve a grassroots level challenge.
Following TFI, I worked at Acumen Fund, a non-profit venture fund, and helped pilot the launch of their Acumen India Fellows Program. The one-year leadership development program was focused on cultivating and building a pipeline of outstanding Indian Social Change Makers.
Next, I pursued an MBA at IIM Ahmedabad, hoping to pursue a career in Social Impact Consulting. But life had other plans for me. I found my way into Product Marketing for a Mumbai/US based Nutraceutical Company, OmniActive Health Technologies.
It was a rich entrepreneurial and multi-function-al role and part of my responsibility was to explore various marketing initiatives to help product market traction. That's what ignited my interest in Digital Marketing.
“I'm focused on building a culture with positive business values that go by the acronym impact (initiative, moral code, personalization, adaptability, client centricity, tenacity)”
What Have Been Some Of The Most Significant Milestones Achieved By You Over The Years? What Awards And Accolades Have You Received Thus Far?
I've had several professional milestones such as having the privilege to study at India's Top Business School and the opportunity & privilege of being a teacher and working towards bridging the gap towards education inequity. In 2013, I was chosen for Jagriti Yatra, the World's longest entrepreneurial train journey that exposed me to outstanding Business leaders and Role Models.
I won the Google For Entrepreneurs Case Competition in December 2013, was featured in the Economic Times in October 2014, and was awarded the Bertelsmann Technology Scholarship 2020 and the AT&T Technology Scholarship 2021.
How Do You Drive Growth Within Digital Chakra? What Is Your Leadership Mantra?
First, I believe in process-oriented thinking. I've built several business processes to efficiently manage the important steps of a client and employee's journey with us. This approach ensures an efficient, scalable and repeatable way of managing a business and a team.
Of course, it's not possible to factor every variable in business but this methodology has served us in building deep client relationships that keep bringing in new referrals, and serve as a self-sustaining growth loop.
Second, I think culture is one of the key ingredients in establishing a business's success. Trusting employees and creating a space for them to grow is important to me. I'm focused on building a culture with positive business values that go by the acronymIMPACT (Initia-tive, Moral Code, Personalization, Adaptability, Client centricity, Tenacity).
What Would Your Advice Be To Young Women Who Aspire To Become Business Leaders And Entrepreneurs?
If you'd like to start a business or do anything completely outside of your comfort zone, take inspiration from the Japanese concept of `Kaizen' or continuous improvement. Instead of getting overwhelmed by the idea of doing something big, take incremental steps each day towards your goal. Over time, this will help you build momentum and confidence towards realizing your dream. Also, don't hesitate to seek help and guidance. In the age of social media, you can practically reach out to any one, and most people would like to help if they're available.
