The Women Entrepreneur magazine engaged in a conversation with Keshavi Mehta, Director, Welset Plast Extrusions in order to know more about the company and the value it is adding to the industry.

Take us through your early educational journey and prior industry experience that you bring to the table.

I am Psychotherapist, NLP Trainer, Coach, Healer, Tarot Reader Graphotherpaist, Artist recently did Exhibitions at Nehru Centre in Mumbai and Goa and much more u can see in my website- keshavi.in. I thought to help my father in our business with my expertise. It has been more than five decades that our company is in the masterbatch industry and has been a major witness to the ups and downs of the industry over the years. This is the reason why I decided to join the business and implement my expertise in the operations of the company.

What motivated you to establish Welset Plast? Tell us about the underlying idea behind the venture and some of its most unique features.

My Father Arvind Mehta established Welset in 1968. He is been Hardworking, Dedicated, Courageous, Loyal. I am following my Father's footsteps. The company has grown from strength to strength and currently is rated as one of the leading manufacturers of additives and color masterbatches with more than 5000+ colors and black and white masterbatches and speciality raw material for the medical plastics industry. With three plants in Silvasssa with more than 45,000 MTPA, Welset is truly on its way to setting new milestones in the business of raw materials. Designing and Implementing Marketing Strategies havea healthy Top Line and most important very good bottom line. I have created strategies for global tie up for better marketing, sales and a healthy bottom line of products. Under my leadership, I have opened the new avenues in Germany and USA in last six months.

Throw some light on the most critical challenges you face in your current role. What steps do you take to overcome the roadblocks that you encounter?

It's a Man’s World in the Plastics Industry. I am trying mybest to create Women’s World, Beginning with my Office. Some of the important characteristics that I primarily concentrate on are focus, confidence, loyalty, courage, Integrity & communication. I am of the belief that a person is able to achieve all life goals with the perfect implementation of all these.

Drawing from your experience as a business leader, what would your advice be to young women and girls who also aspire to become business leaders and entrepreneurs in the future?

Play on Strengths not your weaknesses, Take Risks, Practice Resilience, find mentors who can guide you. Don't compare yourself with anyone. Have Humility and Kindness.
