Talentegrity was incorporated in 2018 by Kavitha Kalaiselvi, an HR specialist with more than 20 years of expertise in the end-to-end life cycle of talent management. Talentegrity identifies the best personnel for the company and provides management assistance. It also provides exclusive training and mentorship to IT recruiters and HR professionals.

In an exclusive interview with Women Entrepreneur Magazine Kavitha elucidates her professional journey and the distinct characteristics of Talentegrity.

Tell Us About Your Early Educational Journey And Prior Industry Experience. What Drew You To The Human Resources Field?

I'm an engineer turned HR professional, I graduated from the College of Engineering, Guindy in 1998. I worked as a design engineer for some time, wherein I was given an opportunity to handle a team when I was very young. Within a year I had more than 20 individuals reporting to me. Despite the fact that it was a technical profession, I spent most of my time dealing with customers and teams, putting things together. This inspired me to do more, and I began doing a lot of team management activities early on in my career. As a result of my growing fondness for dealing with people, I decided to pursue an MBA in HR. I made the decision that I would have to devote my entire career to HR. I was adamant about becoming an HR professional, and I was particularly interested in recruitment as well. So I took the call, quit my Tech job, and went to work for a company as an HR Recruiter.

Throw Some Light On Your Entrepreneurial Journey. What Motivated You To Establish An Organization That Specializes In Hr Functions?

As aforementioned, my passion for dealing with people sowed the seed for my entrepreneurial path. In 2006, I joined HCL Technologies, where I worked in a variety of advanced HR roles and evolved professionally. Later, I moved to BNP Paribas, the IT arm of the bank based in Chennai, where I was the HR head for two years. In mid-2017, I quit the corporate job, since I wanted to do something on my own.

I just took a few months of hiatus to think about what I needed to do; I wasn't certain what I needed to do. But, for the next step of my career, I truly wanted to be on my own and not join another organization. During this period, I got a consulting assignment to do some work in HR for a startup company. They sought assistance in implementing all of the HR policies and procedures. And once I finished it, it gave me a lot of confidence in handling consultancy assignments. Gradually, in 2018 I started this company called Talentegrity meaning talent management with integrity, and in 2019, I converted this to an LLP limited liability partnership company.

Could You Brief Us About Talentegrity Consulting Services?

Talentegrity has four service verticals. To begin with, we offer HR consulting services, where we undertake consulting assignments. I provide HR leadership as a service to many startups, small and midsize businesses, and work directly with the leadership team on the HR aspects. We coach and advise those HR professionals who are in the process of being groomed. The second vertical is the Zoho partnership program. Talentegrity is an authorized partner of Zoho for their HR products as we have expertise in the HR domain. We do implementation for Zoho's customers, buying service products especially the HR products. We assist them in deployment by configuring everything in accordance with their organization's policy and SOPs. The third vertical is talent acquisition services, which are essentially recruitment services. At Talentegrity, recruitment is viewed as a process-value-driven service, wherein the customer needs are thoroughly understood and assessed before sourcing the appropriate candidates.

Finally, we provide technical evaluation services, particularly for startups and small and medium-sized companies. We introduced this interviewing service as a technical evaluation service. If the organization requires assistance, we send one of our technical consultants to interview the candidate and deliver an assessment report to the customer. These companies may not have or have a large number of employees who can interview people for various talents and technologies. And even if they do have a small number of people who can do so, they will be involved in too many other things. For this, one of our Talentegrity recruiters will go work for a set amount of time, specifically for that company.

Given The Pandemic Scenario, How Was Talentegrity Able To Hold Its Ground?

Almost all recruitment services were shut off during the lockdown. We weren't performing well because a lot of companies had frozen their requirements.  Since recruitment services were on hold, I had a lot of time on my hands. I wanted to create something online, so I came up with the career crafter vertical. Career crafter is a brand name under which I've bundled all the career management services. There's a separate website created for Career Crafter alone, which is one of the service offerings under Talentegrity.

As A Successful Leader, What Advice Would You Provide To Young Girls And Women Who Want To Be Business Leaders And Entrepreneurs?

My advice to budding entrepreneurs is to be firm on their position of whatever they ought to do. It is okay to take the risk and fail, rather than not taking any. Also, one should start entering the entrepreneurship world or the business world, in the early stage of their career, because you will still have the luxury to fail and stand up. Even if somebody has started their startup and failed, the kind of learning that you get out of running your enterprise cannot be compared with any typical job that one holds. Success is also something that you have to define yourself.
