What motivated you to pursue entrepreneurship, and what are the key elements that define your approach to design projects?
Since childhood, I've never liked the idea of working for someone else, which drove me towards the path of entrepreneurship. What are the key challenges faced by a business leader today? How do you overcome them effectively?
As a business leader in today’s ever-evolving landscape, I encounter a myriad of critical challenges. Firstly, articulating a clear vision, strategic roadmap, and execution plan is paramount, likewise, establishing effective communication channels and empowering stakeholders to make informed decisions are vital steps in overcoming this hurdle. Additionally, maintaining business continuity amidst uncertainties requires strategic planning for growth and a relentless focus on impactful areas. Another significant challenge lies in hiring the right talent, particularly individuals with a customer-centric mindset. Henceforth, to address all the challenges, adaptability is key in navigating today’s business climate.
Throw light on the most critical professional milestone you have achieved throughout your professional journey. What has your success mantra been over the years?
Throughout my professional journey, one of the most critical milestones I achieved was breaking barriers in a predominantly male-dominated field of architecture. Early on, garnering trust in my ideas and executing designs on-site posed significant challenges. However, landmark projects like the renovation of the Moazzamzahi market, the establishment of IT parks, and designing of medical colleges and railway station beautifications underscored my capabilities. Entering the industry when female architects were scarce, gaining acceptance was an uphill battle. Despite initial obstacles, perseverance fueled my progression. Today, I am esteemed for my work irrespective of gender. Entrepreneurship demands a delicate balance; setting priorities and efficient time management are paramount.
While sacrifices are inevitable, each project fuels my drive for excellence, and adversities serve as catalysts, propelling me forward with renewed vigor. With divine grace, I navigate the dualities of business ownership and personal fulfillment, embracing each challenge as an opportunity for growth.
How can women's involvement in construction and architecture grow? What motivates more women to enter this field?
Increasing women's involvement in construction and architecture requires a multifaceted strategy. It begins with cultural transformation, creating an inclusive environment where women feel valued. Role models and representation play a pivotal role, in inspiring women through their achievements and stories. Education and awareness campaigns are essential, promoting STEM subjects and career paths. Mentorship programs and networking events offer vital support and guidance. Ensuring equal opportunities, flexible work arrangements, and professional development initiatives are crucial for fair treatment and growth. Advocacy for policy changes and recognition of women's contributions add to inclusivity, fostering a diverse and dynamic industry.
