Post pandemic, a lot has changed in terms of the way people perceive healthcare. As the healthcare industry is going through major transformation, the CEOs of medical organizations are also under continuous scrutiny for maintaining immediate and efficient services. "Do it your way. Learn it from others, but follow your path. Every journey is unique – be agile and flexible but maintain your determination to succeed"
Tell us about your educational journey and prior industry experience. What are the features of your leadership approach?
I am a proud alumnus of the Convent of Jesus and Mary and Lady Sriram College in New Delhi and a gold medalist in MBA-Marketing from Kothari Academy.
My area of expertise is managing issues by interpreting verbal, cognitive, and physical clues. I accomplished this by keeping up with technological trends for both the present and the future for my decision-making, maintaining relationships with all types of people. When a complex problem arises, I break the problem down to examine the individual facts and attempt to solve it.
Define Vijaya Hospital. What was the underlying idea behind the inception of Vijaya Hospital and what are its areas of specialization?
To provide altruistic service at reasonable prices, my father-in-law B. Nagi Reddi founded the Vijaya Hospital, a fifty-year-old tertiary care hospital in the with heart of Chennai We are amongst the best hospitals in the country for all medical specialties and super-specialties. As a flagship multispecialty tertiary care Hospital we stand out for our excellent state of the art medical facilities .
What are the responsibilities you shoulder as the CEO of Vijaya Hospital? How do you overcome the roadblocks related to your role?
My responsibilities include managing the hospital's daily operations, clinical and managerial, and ensuring enough facilities to support the hospital's clinical operations with prudent financial investments. Managing adequate staff rigorous adherence to hospital policies and procedures, Patient safety and observing quality standards with appropriate reviews are given top priority.
During the second wave of Covid, I boldly took the initiative to build up two PSA plants to become self sufficient when there was a high demand and low supply of oxygen I also developed care pathways in all the departments to have uniform patient care. To prevent any gaps in patient care and outcomes, I have also developed an ideal succession plan to ensure that there is a smooth transition in all the departments when the situation arises.
What are the key leadership mantras or philosophies you follow?
Take advice from others, but make your own decisions and travel your road. Be flexible and adaptable, but never waver in your resolve to succeed because every trip is different. Never give up after failing since I learnt more from them. Youngsters are coming up with fresh ideas, so encourage them to engage. Regardless of your position, you should never undervalue anybody.
How do you foresee the evolution of the Indian healthcare service domain? Which industry will be the most impactful in future?
Future trends in healthcare delivery include insured individuals, more information, and technological advancements. The concepts can be changed by adopting to new technologies and focusing on systems rather than individuals in healthcare.
Future possibilities for wellness are better than spending a lot of money on illness. With resources ranging from Paediatrics to Geriatrics, we have ventured into wellness as well. Since the health market is largely saturated in major cities, we have begun to concentrate on Tier 2 cities with our newer cutting-edge healthcare strategies.
