Road to Empowerment: Gujarat Amplifying Women's Education & Opportunity

The Western most state of India, Gujarat has become a model for holistic economic development. Gujarat’s economy has showcased an annualised growth rate of 12.56 percent for the last 12 years since 2011-12 according to the budget documents.
According to additional data presented in the Gujarat Assembly, the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) for 2023-24 was projected to be INR 25,62,975 crore which showed a growth of 13 percent over the revised estimate of GSDP for 2022-23. Going forward, the state has set the target to double its GSDP in the next five years.
Gujarat also intends to take women along in its growth journey. in a recent two-day conference held in Gujarat, the state CM Shri Bhupendra Patel highlighted the importance of women’s participation for sustainable and inclusive economic development.
he mentioned the state’s swelling literacy rates, especially among women. The Female Literacy Rate in Gujarat has increased to 70 percent and the enrolment rate has increased to 90 percent. this has been made possible by the Kanya Kelavani started by PM Modi. he also stated that over 26 lakh women in Gujarat are now running businesses worth crores of rupees by 25 lakh Sakhi Mandals for the economic empowerment of rural women.
Needless to say, with education and opportunity in their favour, women of Gujarat are poised for accelerated growth & empowerment.
