Every new day now brings to us a news report about some tech giant carrying out mass layoffs. Today it was Amazon; prior to which we heard names such as Meta, Google, Morgan Stanley, LinkedIn, IBM, Buzzfeed and various other announce mass layoffs across the globe.

So, does this mean that some of us might be out of a job in the near future? It is likely. However, what news reports are not incorporating is the steady rate of recruitment in the Indian business landscape. A report by Spectrum Talent Management concluded that the Indian recruitment industry will see positive outcomes with some key developments through 2023. The report mentioned that hiring momentum in Quarter 4 will continue to be stable and almost similar to the previous quarter. Positive outcomes can also be expected to come in starting in the April-May-June quarter. India will see recruitment going strong across sectors. The top hirers will be industries including Telecom, BFSI, Manufacturing, and Retail. Bangalore will continue to be the city with the most hiring opportunities throughout 2023 with Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, NCR, Pune, Jaipur, and Bhubaneswar following each other. But looking beyond 2023 also, the forecast seems positive. The job market in India will remain strong and continue its upward growth trajectory.

However, the struggle for companies to find well suited candidates for important roles and for talented professionals to find suitable jobs still continues.
