The fight for women empowerment and right to equality is a continuous war since centuries. What this is transpiring into is a beautiful picture. Women have earned an equal seat in every sphere, whether its family or business. Startup ecosystem is another sphere that is witnessing a constant rise in the number of women-led startups. From IT to education, healthcare to pharmaceutical, and several others, women are steering the wheels of success uninterrupted.
Meanwhile, their determination, grit and complicity, and the managerial traits women possess add to their success mantra. But the problem is most prevalent in India, and the sixth economic census by Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) states that women comprise of a meager 13.76 percent of the total entrepreneurs in India. This number is not something to boost about, but yes, it indeed is an indicator of the changing times and how women are coming forward to create something of their own.
Truly speaking, after years of submission, Indian women are finally getting there. But when we look at the global scenario, the picture is not much different. It is said women’s entrepreneurship can lead to nearly 30 million women-owned enterprises in India and has the potential to add over 150-170 million new jobs. We all need to work together to fix this gap. And with our current edition of Women Entrepreneur India, we bring to you the story of few such women-led startups who have been making a positive dent in the industry. Read to know more about them.
