2023 Best Performing Year for Indian Art Industry Ever

“Art is too important not to share.” This quote by Brazilian artist Romero Britto puts into simple words the crucial role that art plays in human life. Without art, life would be devoid of feeling and expression. Other than being a vital part of the human experience, art has also emerged as a lucrative business industry. The Indian art industry is a prominent player in the global art world. Fuelled by India’s booming economy, the Indian art market is slated to have its ‘best-performing year’ in 2023. According to the Indian Art Investor’s Indian Art Market Report, the industry earned revenue of $75.8 million as of 30 September 2022. The ‘State of the Indian Art Market Report FY23’ by Grant Thornton Bharat and Indian Art Investor, announced that the Indian art market saw a turnover of $144.3 million in FY23. This is a nine percent increase in turnover. With the market booming, the architects of this success must be acknowledged.
