The centre, which employs 55 per cent women, is part of Cummins' global IT infrastructure and will focus on advanced analytics, cybersecurity, digital transformation, and application development. This initiative aims to create a more balanced and equitable workplace.The centre will drive innovation across global operations through specialized talent and technical capabilities. The facility will house software engineers, product owners, architects, technology leads, and process experts in Pune's Balewadi area in order to train process experts to drive innovation in various sectors, using technologies like AI, machine learning, and Robotic Process Automation.Chief Information Officer, Cummins India, Annapurna Vishwanathan mentions, "We will achieve this by leveraging India's exceptional talent pool to enhance digital enablement and process transformation, boosting our competitive edge" that aligns with the company's aim for continued growth of business acumen in India. The GCC will further enhance operational efficiency, accelerate product and service time-to-market, offer internships, and employment opportunities to people with special needs and women returning to the workforce from career break or maternity leave, and collaborate with educational institutions for various demographics. The organization argues that women entrepreneurs often face challenges due to gender biases and limited resources, requiring increased financial support, policy reforms, and dedicated programs to foster growth and innovation.The BRICS CCI WE has submitted 10 recommendations for the Union Budget 2024-25, including increasing resources for women-led MSMEs, enhancing funding for Skill India, supporting mentorship initiatives, implementing policy interventions, investing in safer urban environments, and expanding childcare facilities and caregiver services for women entrepreneurs. The government should also boost female-focused venture capital funds and provide higher tax deductions and relaxations to reduce financial burdens and promote growth in women-owned businesses.BRICS CCI, established in 2012, promotes commerce and industry in BRICS nations, focusing on women's empowerment and creating a supportive system for entrepreneurs and professionals worldwide.
