8 JUNE2025In order to provide women bartenders and junior professionals throughout the nation with exclusive Level 1 Spirits training sessions, Diageo India has partnered with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET). The Diageo Bar Academy is driving this initiative, which highlights the company's continuous efforts to support leadership, professional growth, and gender diversity in the bar and beverage industry.Over 80 women will receive internationally recognized WSET certifications in the program's first phase, improving their abilities and expanding their employment opportunities. The workshops are being held under Diageo India's "Our Hive" initiative, which is devoted to empowering women in the hospitality sector. Through community development, education, and mentoring, the platform fosters professional advancement. The program's wider impact was highlighted by Anchal Kaushal, Vice President of Customer Marketing at Diageo India: "Our partnership with WSET reflects our strong commitment to inclusivity, skill-building, and progress." With Diageo Bar Academy's top-notch certification and knowledgeable instruction, we are not only improving skills but also opening doors to leadership and creating a diverse, capable workforce. For qualified women aged 21 and up, the scholar-ship-based training is entirely free. Candidates are chosen according to predetermined standards and at the jury's discretion. With this initiative, Diageo has taken a significant step in its mission to build a more capable and inclusive future for the Indian bar indus-try. Notably, the company's Indian subsidiary, Unit-ed Spirits, had previously announced that it would be closing its 160-year-old facility in Hyderabad be-cause of changing market conditions and deteriorat-ing infrastructure. The largest integrated power company in India, NTPC Limited, has launched its flagship corporate social responsibility program, the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) Summer Workshop 2025, at 41 locations nationwide in support of the government's Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative. This year's program will expand on its previous achievements by providing residential workshops to more than 2,600 girls from disadvantaged backgrounds who reside close to NTPC's power plants. About 10 percent of these girls will have enrolled in NTPC-run schools by the end of the workshop, and NTPC will cover all of their higher secondary education costs. The month-long summer workshop covers academics and life skills with an emphasis on holistic development. Along with practical lessons in communication, hygiene, yoga, safety, theater, dance, sports, and public speaking, the curriculum covers the fundamentals of Hindi and other regional languages, English, math, environmental science, and computer skills. Along with attending motivational talks by inspiring speakers from a variety of fields, participants will also participate in industrial visits.GEM's primary objectives are to empower disadvantaged girls with life skills and confidence, advance gender equality, and inspire them to reach their full potential. GEM began as a pilot project in 2018 with 392 participants in just 3 locations. Since then, it has grown to 17 states and reached over 10,000 girls nationwide. Many former participants have strengthened their skills, found their talents, and grown more self-assured and independent. The GEM program has received a lot of recognition for its comprehensive approach to mentoring, empowerment, and skill development. NTPC seeks to develop future leaders who can positively influence their communities and the country by giving girls the knowledge and self-assurance they need.
