8 OCTOBER2024The 'Diversity in Diplomacy' event was organized to discuss the improvements needed for the representation of women and minorities in diplomatic roles. The event drew notable delegates and female ambassadors who shared their insights and graced the event. Dr. Philipp Ackermannn, German Ambassador to India and Bhutan also participated in the event lauding the increase of women's representation in diplomacy. He highlighted female community in the Indian Foreign Service as 'lively' and 'vibrant'.Dr. Philipp emphasized the progress made by the Indian diplomacy and said "We'll sit down with several female ambassadors and we will discuss how to better include women and minorities in diplomacy. I think we can learn a lot from many other countries. Germany is trying hard to get more women to be more inclusive in its foreign policy." He added that Indian female ambassadors have the highest ranking among them, while some of them have been German ambassadors as well. In order to improve gender equality in diplomacy, both nations should collaborate diligently.The event saw several female panelists including, Marisa Gerards, Netherlands Ambassador to India, Ina Hagniningtyas Krishnamurthi, Ambassador of Indonesia to India, and Ranjana Kumari, Director of Centre for Social Research.During an interview, the German Ambassador mentioned that German Mahotsav will be organized in October and will drive intergovernmental consultations by the Chancellor and 8 Ministers. The event will be hosted in Delhi which will witness high-ranking German CEOs to discuss German business in India and Asia.
