This young demographic is also consuming content like never before. As a consequence the Indian media and entertainment industry is among the fastest growing media industries in the world. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) expects the industry to reach $100 billion by 2030 as mentioned by MIB secretary, Apurva Chandra. But India's media and entertainment sector is nothing new. For years the country has been producing some of the most prolific work, be it for the big screen, television, music or any other medium. But of late, the Media & Entertainment industry has beencaught in a conundrum where the old and the new are learning to coexist. In a bid to stay relevant with the times, the industry has incorporated trends such as rise of interactivity, digitization, new-age platforms & devices, and the globalization of the services-based economy. The architects of this evolution are young and visionary leaders who have been able to gauge the needs of the Indian consumers and cater to these requirements. In the current edition of Women Entrepreneur magazine we celebrate a few such women leaders from the Indian media and entertainment world who have given the industry their hard-work, talent and creativity.
