It connects every corner of the country and enables businesses to go beyond their vicinities. Every major industry such as FMCG, retail, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, industrial goods and e-commerce, depends on the logistics sector for functioning. Owing to reliance of the various industries, the logistics industry is expected to see a revenue rise of 6-9 percent year on year. The logistics industry is also known to the male-dominated. Until 2010, women formed only eight percent of the logistics workforce globally. Given the erratic work hours, harsh work conditions, preconceived notions about gender roles etc have actively discouraged women from foraying into the field and also from the industry to pursuing more women. But in today's world diversity and inclusion are cornerstones of any successful venture. Onboarding more women is said to improve business performance. The past few years have seen the industry actively trying to improve its gender imbalance. The female workforce in the global workforce has increased to 20 percent in 2018. India has also made a marked improvement, with the number increasing to almost 15 percent. It is also important to note that women are no longer confined to basic roles, but are also taking up tougher roles and even taking up leadership positions within the logistics sector. Take for instance, Diksha Jain, Director, Actrans Global Services. With a background in the logistics sector encompassing transportation, freight transportation, and supply chain management, Diksha is a seasoned professional. Possessing robust strategic problem-solving skills, she seeks a stimulating role where she can contribute effectively. Manya Gupta, Co-Founder, MTruck is another woman who has built a successful career in the logistics industry. Her entrepreneurial journey began alongside her husband, managing finance and marketing for their family-owned manufacturing venture. Her innovation and determination culminated in the establishment of MTruck, revolutionizing the logistics industry.Another shining exemplar of excellence in the logistics sector is Radhika Kalia, Managing Director, Reverse Logistics Group. Radhika commenced her professional journey in 1993, armed with an MBA. She embarked on her career at Phoenix International, transitioning to Samsung, Imate and HT Media in Realty domain. In 2010, she joined Panasonic. Since 2017, she has been at the helm of the Reverse Logistics Group, overseeing its remarkable growth in India's reverse logistics sector.
