8 JULY2023INFOCUSINFOCUSNirmala Buch, the first female Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh passed away on Sunday due to a protracted age-related illness. She was 96 years old.Nirmala was in the 1960 batch of IAS officers and was well-known for her reputation as a "strict administrator" in the bureaucratic division. She held the position of Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh from September 1991 to September 1993. From the year 1975 to 1977, she also held the positions of financial and education secretary. Nirmala served a pioneering role in the creation of the "Gramin Vikas" and "Panchayati Raj" systems in MP whole working for the Yojana Aayog which is now renamed as NITI Ayog.On her death, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan described the diligence and administrative efficiency she had in a message. Nirmala's husband, Mahesh Neelkanth Buch was also an IAS officer who passed away in 2015. In order to address the critical issues of the lack of truck drivers in India, this program has been specifically created that will support job diversity, and provide women with several opportunities to earn more money.Five exceptional women truck drivers have joined BLR's fleet through the DriveHER Program, making a significant achievement for the initiative at this initial stage. These individuals have completed an intensive 8-day driving-focused training course, giving them the knowledge and guidance they need to operate the vehicle.BLR emphasizes the value of teamwork in extending the DriveHER Program's reach and inviting its clients to take part in this project. The Managing Director of BLR Logistiks stated that together the team can remove barriers and pave the way for a more diverse and inclusive trucking industry by empowering more women to pursue their professional and personal goals.Women will receive equal opportunities, a welcoming workplace, and increased earning potential, as mentioned by Director of BLR Logistiks, Abhishek Goyal. BLR is confident enough that this newly launched initiative DriveHER Program will keep having a greater impact on the lives of women.
