SIRISHA VORUGANTI NAMED AS CEO & MD OF LLOYDS TECHNOLOGY CENTER IN INDIASC COLLEGIUM RECOMMENDS JUSTICE SUNITA AGARWAL AS CHIEF JUSTICE OF GUJARAT ALONG WITH 6 OTHER JUDGES FOR OTHER PLACESOn Wednesday, the Supreme Court Collegium made seven recommendations for Chief Justices of seven different High Courts. The names of the High Courts in Bombay, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Orrisa, and Kerala were suggested by the Collegium.At the Collegium meeting on Wednesday, the Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, and Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Sanjiv Khanna made these recommendations.The name recommended as the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court is Justice Sunita Agarwal, and if the name is approved by the Centre, the Gujarat HC will have a female Chief Justice. So far no woman has held this position, she will become the only female Chief Justice of a High Court if selected.On November 21, 2011, Justice Sunita Agarwal was appointed to the High Court of Judicature in Allahabad, where she currently serves as the senior-most puisne Judge. She carries 11 years of experience administering justice in the largest High Court of India.The resolution states that the Collegium considered Justice Sunita Agarwal's name as there were no female Chief Justices of the High Courts.Apart from recommending the name for Gujarat HC the Supreme Court Collegium also mentioned these names for the rest of the places:· For Bombay, Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Judge of the High Judicature at Allahabad was recommended.· For Telangana, Justice Alok Aradhe, Judge, High Court of Karnataka was recommended.· For Andhra Pradesh, Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur, Judge, High Court of Bombay was recommended.· For Manipur, Justice Siddharth Mridul, Judge, High Court of Delhi was recommended.· For Orrisa, Justice Subhasis Talapatra, Judge, High Court of Orrisa was recommended.· For Kerala, Justice Ashish J Desai, Judge, High Court of Gujarat was recommended.
