8 JUNE2024IN FOCUSIN FOCUSIndian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore has opened its 2024-26 Post Graduate Program (PGP) batch, with 40 percent female representation, the highest in 18 years. the program welcomed 535 management and 72 business analytics candidates, with 11 international students.The orientation programme for the new batch will be organized from 11 June to 24 June 2024. The inauguration ceremony featured a keynote address by PC Musthafa, CEO of iD Fresh Food, who shared inspiring insights from his journey, from being a school dropout to a successful entrepreneur. He mentioned, "All this was possible because I did not give up. I had the courage to leave a well-paid job to make idlis. There was a time when we took nine months to sell 100 packets. Today, we feed idlis to more than two million Indians across the globe."The new batch includes 12 women PhD students, making up over 50 percent, from various backgrounds including startups, defense sectors, IIMB's NSR pre-doc program, and the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) program. PGP and PGPBA candidates have an average work experience of 20-27 months. The average age group of these students is 24-26 years. A total of 73 pecent of PGP students belong to engineering, 14 percent to commerce, and 6 per cent to arts and science each. The historic feat claimed by Narendra Damodardas Modi on serving as the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term in office has received accolades from neighboring countries' ministers and presidents. PM Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister on Sunday followed by other ministers including senior BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman and seven women candidates of the Modi-led government. She was retained to hold the finance ministry position for the second consecutive term, alongside other women ministers in the new Modi 3.0 cabinet.Annpurna Devi: The newly elected Minister of Women and Child Development is the only other woman in the Union Cabinet. She is an OBC leader from Koderma, Jharkhand.Savitri Thakur: The Minister of State (MoS) for the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur is a well-known tribal leader from Madhya Pradesh.Nimuben Bambhaniya: The MoS for the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution. She is a member of the BJP party from Gujarat.Raksha Khadse: One of the youngest members of the council of ministers, Raksha Khadse serves as a Minister of State in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.Shobha Karandlaje: The three-term member of the Lok Sabha is the minister of state for two ministries: Labor and Employment; and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises.Anupriya Patel: The only non-BJP minister who leads the Apna Dal (Sonelal), a party ally. She holds the position of MoS in two ministries: Chemicals and Fertilizers and Health and Family Welfare.
