Through the ages we have been seeing stories being told in form of paintings, music, poetry, sculpture narrate etc. today, there is another art form that has risen in prominence, ie. Interior design. It is the art of using aesthetics to imbue a space with character. We will all agree that a home speaks tons about who reside in it. An amalgamation of who we are, where we come from and what are preferences is reflected in our living spaces. Back in the day, interior design and home décor was considered an elite concept. But today, things have changed. The average Indian consumer today has the access to gain a wide world view. This coupled with the aspiration of creating living spaces that reflect their personalities distinctly and the increasing buying power of the middle class has piqued people's interest in interior design. With the real estate market growing consistently in India, interior design as an industry has also witnessed a rise in demand. A culmination of these factors has made interior design a sunrise sector in the Indian landscape. According to a report by Mordor Intelligence, the Indian home interior and renovation market is worth $20-30 Billion currently. The industry is slated to grow at a CAGR of seven percent till 2026 said the report. With rising urbanization and growing income levels the industry is on an upward growth trajectory. Standing tall as pillars in this fast-paced industry are several illustrious leaders who don't just bring with them extensive experiences but also possess the ingrained mastery in this crafty science of interior design. India is fortunate to be home to several such women leaders who have made great strides in the industry with their strong sense of aesthetics, design and creativity. This journey of becoming an entrepreneur has always been a stream of ups and downs for them! Especially overcoming the existing stereotypes and mindsets was the biggest challenge that most women entrepreneurs have faced as opposed to the regular challenges in the industry.
