She studied at the Sir J.J. College of Architecture and earned a doctorate from the Technical University of Berlin. She focuses on energy and water-efficient infrastructure, minimizing environmental impact through material research and community engagement. Her "Wall House" and "Liberty" are two remarkable projects. The "Wall House" is an L-shaped house in Auroville, that combines modern and traditional materials. The replica was exhibited at the Venice Biennale of Architecture whereas the "Liberty" is a free library with steel-made trees and salvaged books. Anupama is known for her low environmental impact and context-based designs. She has received the 2021 RIBA Charles Jencks Award for sustainable construction methods and also authored several noteworthy books.Chitra Vishwanath has been a principal architect and Managing Director of BIOME Environment Solutions since 1991. With over 500 projects, she emphasizes ecology and uses earth as a fundamental material, often using mud as the primary element for her designs. She holds a diploma in civil engineering from Nigeria and a Bachelor of Architectural degree from the CEPT University in Ahmedabad. She designs indigenous natural resources, incorporating water, energy, and land-use processes. She built a 135-square-meter mud house for herself in Bengaluru, featuring solar panels, photovoltaics, water harvesting, an eco-san toilet, waste segregation, greywater treatment, bio mass heater, and a 1,000 square-foot terrace vegetable garden.Dr. Masooma Rizvi is a multifaceted artist, curator, architect, designer, museum curator, businesswoman, writer, critic, cultural envoy, mentor, and trainer. One of the eminent leaders in the design industry, she has more than 22 years of experience in art curation, interior design, and museology. She has curated emblems for the New Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhawan Interiors, and a mural at Maharishi Valmiki International Ayodhya Airport, showcasing India's rich cultural heritage. Being a proficient designer, Masooma Rizvi kickstarted her career by beautifying Army messes and museums. Despite her love for art, she chose to pursue science, balancing her passion for design with practical considerations. Later she established Belita Design Solutions which includes various ministries under the Union Government.She mentions, "Going forward, I believe that people will realize that being surrounded by comfort & their ideas of beauty & décor could help them stay indoors too. As my team leads gain more and more experience and require less supervision, I see my company doing more ambitious and unusual projects. But like I said - only the ones that excite me!"Brinda Somaya, head of Somaya and Kalappa Consultants, believes architects should be guardians of the built and un-built environment. She has designed corporate buildings, industrial and educational campuses, and public spaces, including the Rajabai Clock Tower and the Goa Institute of Management. Brinda is a member of MARG Architectural Books and Urban Heritage Conservation Committee. She is a conservation and sustainable designer who received the Kitply Award for her work at Cathedral and John Connon Middle School in 1994. She is the founder and trustee of the HECAR Foundation and curated the Women in Architecture 2000 Plus conference.
