4 JUNE2023Editor NoteTechnology Acts as A Catalyst in Fast tracking Women's Rise to the Top Rachita SharmaManaging Editorrachita@womenentrepreneurindia.comTechnology has emerged as one of the most crucial catalysts powering the growth of minority communities. With technology, one gets a level playing field. A computer does not discriminate; but when it comes to the technology industry, the story is a little different. Women still remain a minority in the global tech world. Closer home in India we have seen a gradual rise in number of women foraying into the field of technology. Although the number of women pursuing STEM degrees has come at par with the men, yet their participation in the tech workforce is still lacking.According to data from a Deloitte Global study, women made up 33 percent of the overall workforce in large global tech firms. However, an age-old phenomenon still persists; women's representation is severely lacking when it comes to top leadership roles in the tech world too. If ample women are joining the industry, then why are we not seeing enough women at the top? Somewhere the pipeline is broken and there is a lack of societal support for working women. Mentorship has also been a challenge. Women Entrepreneur India intends to become a catalyst of change. We do so by championing women leaders and bringing shining role models to our readers. The current edition of the magazine is no different where we are highlighting the success stories of some of the most accomplished women CTOs from across India.
