4 January2021Celebrated every year as International Women's Day, March 8 has become an important date in all our calendars. Every year we see that around March 8, there is an upsurge in number of campaigns launched by brands and corporate entities. Social media often gets flooded with news about women's day sale and offers. Of late, the day has gained a jaded quality with more and more women voicing their concerns regarding the commercialization of the occasion. In all this social media frenzy let us not forget the true meaning and significance of March 8. Officially declared in 1977 by the United Nations, International Women's Day symbolizes the social, economic, cultural and political achievements made by women around the globe. Be it the scores of women today joining the workforce, shattering the glass ceiling and leading important organizations, on this day let us celebrate every single victory made by a female. Over the past few years, I had the opportunity to interact with prolific women from all walks of life. Each one of them have a story to tell, have hardships that they have overcome and have aspirations & dreams in her heart. Each one of them is also very unique. One might enjoy wearing a bold red lip while the other might find a bare face empowering. Someone might have wanted to get married at an early age, while someone else might be happy staying single all her life. Let us all vow to acknowledge that every woman in special in her own way. The most empowering thing that we can do is, let them live their lives on their own terms. That in my humble opinion will bring about true empowerment. This current issue brings to the forefront several trailblazers from various industry verticals. The issue also features Aashka Goradia Goble, a celebrated actress and a fierce entrepreneur.
