Their primary role not only involvesleading an organization's sales team but also establishing partnerships with vendors & distributors. A Chief Sales Officer aims to improve a company's revenue while managing & building relationships with customers. The position has gained increased important in recent years since companies have understood that maximizing revenue is an even more critical metric than maximizing profit margin. The role which was earlier not counted among the top leadership has today gained greater recognition. But being a Chief Sales Officer comes with its own set of challenges. Speaking about specific challenges faced by women in sales, Niharika Chandrasekhar, Vice President & Country Head of Securitas India explains, "One of the biggest challenges that women face in sales is overcoming bias and stereotypes and my challenges were no different. Women haven't historically been drawn to sales and they are often preconceived as being too soft or emotional for a sales career. I consciously did not try to force myself to be a chatty, pushy, gregarious or aggressive as a salesperson. But by figuring out how to lean into my own strengths, and make the most of them, I turned my introversion and empathy into my superpower and learnt the true essence of what selling is all about".Niharika Chandrasekhar is a part of Women Entrepreneur magazine's current issue which brings to you prolific women leaders from the sales industry. As a leader, Niharikahas always been driven. She has extensive knowledge of banking and human resources services, as well as extensive sales enablement and operations experience. Niharika is the Vice President and Country Head of Securitas India, and she is leading her company to greater heights. An MBA in Sales and Marketing from the Faculty of Management Studies and a Post Graduate in English Literature from Agra University, Niti has 22+ years of professional experience excelling in every stage of her expedition with tenacity & commitment towards her work. "My role involves keeping track of future opportunities. I take on my shoulder the responsibility of getting business from new and potential clients & building strong relationships with our existing clients. Initially, I was looking after the business development and Sales for India but now I take care of Oman, Kuwait, Turkey, Southeast Asia, Singapore, Spain, and Africa", says Niti.The issue also features Zeefa Sayyed, Founder and CEO, Marathon B2B. Zeefa has over eight years of experience working in various domains and roles. She began her career as a customer service agent for Airtel, and steadily advanced towards becoming the founder at Marathon B2B. She has previously worked at organizations like WNS Global Services, Capital India, XDBS Corporation, ApTask, and Incredible Marketeer ITES. "At Marathon B2B, I'm in charge of sales, HR, and finance. My main goal in sales is to increase revenue month over month and close as many deals as possible.
