8 MAY2024IN FOCUSIN FOCUSIn order to mark a major advancement in the direction of gender diversity in the logistics sector, Delhivery, a renowned logistics service provider in India initiated an all-women hub in Sikar, Rajasthan. The focus of this program is to increase women's participation in the logistics workforce and empower them in the industry which also supports the objective of Delhivery.The center is located in Rajasthan's Sikar and the operations will be managed completely by the female employees. Delhivery acknowledges the advantages of having more women in the workforce. They directly improve production and efficiency while also lowering absenteeism and attrition. At the Sikar hub, women will be in charge of a number of tasks, such as security, operations, and administration. In addition to this, Delhivery offers a variety of options for women to work in non-traditional capacities, such as handling truck loading and unloading and operating battery-operated pallet trucks (BOPTs).This program was followed by the surge in women's participation at Delhivery's gateways in Tauru (Haryana), Bhiwandi (Mumbai), and other parts of India. Notably, women at present make up 66 per cent of the workers at the Tauru processing center. In order to further encourage gender diversity and female empowerment in the logistics sector, Delhivery intends to open additional all-women hubs in the future. The India-Australia Women's Leadership Forum has been officially inaugurated by the Business Council of Australia (BCA) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The purpose of forming this cooperative project is to promote female empowerment and diversity in the workplace. The India-Australia Women's Leadership Forum aims to foster bilateral relations between Australia and India while focusing on the advancement of women's leadership in the business climate.The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between CII and BCA that establishes this forum. India-Australia Women's Leadership Forum was formally launched in New Delhi and will be co-chaired by Viji Murugesan, Head of Scaleup Business Transformation at Tata Consultancy Services, and Ravneet Pawha, Asia CEO of Deakin University. CII and BCA as partners in the India-Australia CEO Forum aim to boost women leaders' participation, facilitate connections, share insights, and promote further engagement between companies and leaders.Several leaders and delegates have shared their viewpoints and perspectives appreciating this alliance. Parimita Tripathi, Joint Secretary at Oceania, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India stated, "As we are emphasizing deepening people-to-people ties with Australia, this Forum will play a strategic role in broadcasting our economic and social relationship."Bran Black, Chief Executive of the Business Council mentioned, "The BCA is proud to support the establishment of the Australia-India Women's Leadership Forum, and our members are committed to improving gender equality within their companies and supply chains."The India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) has boosted economic ties between the two nations, with Indian and Australian companies trading at reduced tariff rates. The India-Australia Women's Leadership Forum aims to strengthen connections, share insights, and provide mentorship to future women leaders through workshops, mentorship programs, and policy-making exercises.
