4 NOVEMBER2021Over the past few years, women have been rightfully claiming their spot in the global corporate landscape with increased participation across the board. While the pandemic did further widen the gender divide in the workforce with women having to face harsher consequences yet their strides have only been increasing. The Middle East is no different. According to statistics the region now has more than 52 female CEOs leading large organizations that range from a variety of sectors. BFSI, telecom, hospitality, consumer goods, healthcare, human resources are some of the major verticals seeing a larger participation of women leaders in the Middle East. Experts believe that the region in enroute a paradigm shift in terms of rising number of women entrepreneurs and leaders establishing and running success organizations. This change has been brought about by a series of factors including changing perceptions, government policies, other change agents etc. by implementing reforms across the board slowly yet steadily, the Middle East has been successful in breaking the gender stereotypes associated with women and their participation in the workforce. While the woman was considered an essential component of creating a healthy family life, she is now also being motivated to find a voice of her own. With social outlook changing and modernization being adopted, more and more women are coming out of their predefined roles as family makers to conquer the board rooms. It is also noteworthy to mention that the Middle East is also home to the largest Indian diaspora globally. With over eight million Indians living across the Gulf countries, they form a rather integral and lucrative part of the region's population. Of late India women have also been carving their niche when it comes to the business sector in the region. Not only are they creating innovative organizations & businesses of their own but they are also leading top management positions in established organization across the Middle East. We at Women Entrepreneur magazine thought it an opportune time to shine the spotlight on some such success stories.
