Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform". Women across the world have been doing all of this and much more since ages. Their might and resilience has been ushering in a new form of transformation lately, i.e. gender equality in the workforce. A point of concern for several years, we have often seen women lacking when it comes to participating in the field of business. However, the tide has been changing gradually. Case in point is themeteoric rise of women power in the Middle East. Women in the region have largely become vocal about their rights to be independent and to equal work opportunities. The increasing consciousness of women across the Middle East over the last two decades has resulted in a greater contribution of women to the Middle East's economic growth. Women are now considered as an essential and vital component of the Middle Eastern economies' labour force. However, much needs to be done in bringing more women in the workforce and top leadership roles. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) found that while 75 percent of women in other countries work outside of their homes, the percentage of GCC women was 36, a starkly different number. Women from GCC are also a minority in the private sector. We also need more women in positions of power as they can greatly impact the larger representation of working women across the board. Our mandate at Women Entrepreneur Magazine has always been to highlight exemplary women in leadership roles. In keeping with our motto, the current issue of the Women Entrepreneur Magazine has compiled a list of `Top Indian Women Leaders in the Middle East'. We bring to you inspirational stories of Indian origin women leaders who have broken the glass ceiling and have carved a solid niche for themselves in the Middle Eastern business landscape.
