For a community that forms nearly half of the total population, women do not enjoy the same representation in other aspects of life. Be it politics, business, education or family life, women's participation in each of these aspects is much lesser than their male counterparts. Looking specifically at the corporate world we see that women's representation lacks heavily in top leadership roles across almost every industry and geography. A report by Deloitte suggested that women held only 17.1 percent of all board seats in India in 2022. Although this number was even lower a few years ago, yet we still have a long way to go to achieve gender equality in the boardrooms. A similar pattern can be seen in almost every C-suite role. However, the importance of women leaders must be acknowledged. They bring to the table new sensibilities and perspectives that help businesses flourish. Having women leaders also promotes inclusivity, helps break stereotypes and serves as inspiring role models who can also become change-agents. In keeping with the same motto at Women Entrepreneurs Review magazine, we also believe in shining the spotlight on astute women leaders. The objective is to highlight their success stories in order to inspire the future crop of women professionals. The current edition of the magazine also brings to you inspirational stories of women leaders from Punjab.
