But with a rise in startup activity across the country over the past few years, worthy opponents have emerged and one of the strongest names in the list is Delhi. The region is home to more than 7000 startups inclusing Unicorns such as Paytm, Zomato, and Oyo among many others. In august 2020, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had kick started the consultation process for Delhi's new policy for startups. The steps taken henceforth worked wonders and today Delhi NCR is one of the most sought after location for upcoming startups and entrepreneurs. Consequently the city has improved in terms of ease of doing business. A 2020 StartpBlink report that tracks startup ecosystems placed Bangalore and Delhi NCR on the 14th and 15th spot respectively. Another recent report concluded that between 2009 and 2019, Delhi-NCR had a total of ten unicorns, as compared to Bengaluru's nine, Mumbai and Pune's four, and Chennai's one. Fintech remains one of the top most sectors to thrive in the Delhi NCR region. Other than these edtech, enterprisetech, e-Commerce. Traveltech are some other burgeoning sectors for the region. Delhi NCR is home to successful startups that attracted ample investment owing to the fact that the city combines the advantages of being a metropolitan while also being the national power center. Additionally, it has been blessed with ample purchasing power, addressable base working for its favor, and a holistic participation of various stakeholders including government, VC, start-ups, institutions and market opportunities alike. With great opportunities springing up across the region, NCR has seen a rise in number of women entrepreneurs making a mark in their respective sectors. Coming out in huge numbers, these talented women are building successful companies and scripting growth stories. Who knows the next female led unicorn could well come out of Delhi NCR.
