4 September2022Editor NoteIIT Delhi Alums Live up To the Institution's Vision to Be `A Source of Pride for All Indians'Let me introduce you to three women powerhouses; Kiran Bedi, Padamsree Warrior and Gazal Kalra. It might seem presumptuous of me since these women are institutions in themselves and require no introduction. Kiran Bedi is India's very first female officer to join the Indian Police Service. A woman of steel she has several accolades to her name and has also served as the 24th Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry from 28th May 2016 to 16th February 2021. Padmasree Warrior is a globally renowned business woman and technocrat. She was one of the few Indian women to lead technology strategy for global market leaders such as Cisco and Motorola. Gazal Kalra is an entrepreneur and technocrat who was a Young Global Leader -World Economic Forum, a Fulbright Fellow and a Stanford Reliance Dhirubhai Scholar. She co-founded Rivigo, a tech first logistics platform and is currently building a startup that will accelerate shift to clean and sustainable energy (stealth mode). All three of these women are from different generations and have achieved pinnacles of success by breaking the glass ceilings in their respective fields. But what else do they have in common? They are all alumni of the prestigious institution IIT Delhi. Founded in 1961 as College of Engineering, it is currently one of the 23 IITs created to be Centers of Excellence for training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India. Since its inception IIT Delhi has had over 48000 talented individuals graduate from its iconic halls. IIT Delhi scholars have excelled in disciplines such as Engineering, Physical Sciences, Management and Humanities & Social Sciences. The institution has a vision that motivates its students `to contribute to India and the World through excellence in scientific and technical education and research; to serve as a valuable resource for industry and society; and remain a source of pride for all Indians'. And each student who has passed through the halls of the institution have done credible work towards nation building and have also succeeded in becoming key industry leaders and change agents. Much like Kiran Bedi, Padmasree Warrior and Gazal Kalra, IIT Delhi has also created various other women leaders of today. our current edition is dedicated towards telling the fantastical and inspiring stories of a few such women leaders who imbibed their alma matter's vision & mission and did it proud.Do read on and let us know your thoughts.Rachita SharmaManaging Editor
